Who We're Looking For:
We are currently hiring for a Cell Tower Technician to work out of our Scottsville, NY location. We require a High School Diploma/GED, with previous telecommunications experience a strong plus, and strong mechanical aptitude. The duties of our technicians include constructing, repairing, installing and maintaining remote sites including towers and underground services.

Tower Techs must be able to adhere to rigid safety standards while ensuring quality work in a fast paced environment. Jobs will include tower sites, mods, microwave (installation, troubleshooting, etc.) field troubleshooting. Also, you may be climbing in excess of 500 ft. in all-weather conditions.

All candidates are subject to pre-employment background and drug screenings, and must be able to meet the physical requirements of the positions. Candidates should have the ability to climb heights greater than 500 feet and must be able to travel overnight during the week and over weekends as needed. A clean driving record/background is required and you must be able to pass random drug screens. You will also need to present yourself professionally and work well both independently and in a team environment.

Structural Tower Technician

Incorporated in 2001, Patriot Towers serves the entire Northeast with all aspects of communication tower construction. We are currently seeking applicants for several Welder/Cell Tower Construction positions. Welder/Construction personnel will travel and work at field locations throughout the Northeast, climbing to heights in excess of 500 feet. One to three year welding experience is required. Prior climbing experience is strongly preferred. Work is performed in all weather conditions and temperatures. Must be able to travel 100% of them time (Monday through Friday). Occasional weekends may also be required, as needed.

- Must have the physical ability and willingness to climb towers in excess of 500 feet in all weather conditions year-round
- Constructs, repairs, installs, and maintains remote sites including towers, underground services, conduit, and cable splicing
- Installs coax lines, connectors, antenna and accessories
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on tower equipment as needed
- Complies with OSHA safety guidelines and practical use of these guidelines as well as all other applicable safety laws and policies
- Works cooperatively with team members to complete work and maintain high quality standards

- Great physical condition and stamina
- Ability to climb heights greater than 500 feet
- Must be able to travel overnight during the week and over weekends as needed

- Weld galvanized material at heights in excess of 200’
- Work from blueprints, sketches, procedures and other specifications
- Weld in horizontal, vertical and overhead positions
- Working knowledge of different metals and alloys commonly welded, various electrode types and sizes, and accepted procedures and practices used in all types of welding
- Weld various sizes and shapes of metal objects such as pipe, channel iron, structural forms, plate metal, sheet metal, etc. not involving high pressure
- Shape, form, bend and fit metals to odd shaped sizes to assure proper fit
- Utilize electric and oxy/acetylene welders and the skill to use various cutting machines, such as oxy/acetylene and plasma-arc torches
- Must have the mechanical and technical knowledge and skill to perform operator maintenance on all equipment pertinent to the position.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One to three years related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified 70 Series.
- Valid & clean NYS driver license

Cell Tower Construction Crew Chief

The Crew Chief position is a working foreman position that performs all related duties and manages the work of a tower construction crew. The Crew Chief is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems. Tower activities include installing towers and antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning, and optimizing antennas and lines.

- Climb cell towers in excess of 500’ and perform all related work at height
- Ensures safety standards and requirements are adhered to by crew members
- Leads by example; setting both the character and tone for crews to follow
- Give continuous direction to team and ensure that directions are followed
- EnsurE the quality of work is to specifications as well as the safe and ethical behavior of his or her crew members and if applicable subcontractors
- Ensure crew members are trained, certified/qualified to perform work
- Ensure crew is properly equipped to perform work
- Supervise crew for the installation and testing of antennas including connector installation, weather proofing, associated grounding, positioning antennas to correct tilt and azimuth
- Perform sweep, PIM, fiber and grounding tests
- Perform inspections of work in progress and at completion of installation
- Ensure crews are performing in scope work, and document any changes
- Ensure all required documentation (eg: close-outs, timesheets) is completed and submitted on time.

- Strong safety values and safety leadership skills
- Broad knowledge of tower construction methods and safe work practices
- Broad knowledge of safe rigging practices required with tower work
- Ability to perform and train others in all construction department skills and tasks
- Read and understand engineering drawings, sweeps, and specifications
- Ability to prepare all types of required internal paperwork. (Schedules, daily reports, time-sheets etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to safety climb, maneuver and position oneself in the most complicated of situations
- Computer literate
- Good communications skills

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year experience as a top hand, or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 years tower construction experience
- First Aid/CPR certification • OSHA 10 hour certification
- ComTrain Climbing & Rescue certification
- RF Safety & Health certification
- Anritsu certification and/or demonstrated proficiency
- Anritsu Certification and/or demonstrated equivalent skill and ability
- PIMS Certification and/or demonstrated equivalent skill and ability
